What Data We Collect and Why

Visitors (not logged in)

When you browse the site we collect no personally identifiable information directly. The following data is gathered automatically for analytics and performance:

• IP address (anonymised by Google Analytics before storage)
• Browser type, device, and operating system
• Pages visited, time on page, and referral source
• Accept-Language header — used to detect your preferred language and serve a translated version of the page where available

Language Detection

To serve content in your preferred language we read your browser’s Accept-Language header on each page load. If that header is inconclusive, your IP address may be sent to ip-api.com to infer your country and language. This lookup result is cached for 24 hours and is not stored permanently against your profile or IP.

Comments

When you leave a comment we collect:

• Your name, email address, and website URL (if entered)
• Your IP address and browser user-agent string — retained to help with spam detection
• The comment text itself

An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to display a profile picture next to your comment. After approval, your comment, display name, and avatar are visible publicly. Comments and associated metadata are kept indefinitely so returning visitors are auto-approved on subsequent comments.

A cookie named (and related variants) is saved in your browser for one year to remember your details for future comments.

Contact Form

The contact form (powered by Contact Form 7) collects your name, email address, and message. This data is sent to our inbox and not stored in the WordPress database by default. We retain your message only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.

Newsletter Sign-up

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name. We use this solely to send you editorial updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (property ID: G-FR4VK1835Y) to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects data through first-party cookies and sends it to Google’s servers. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser.

Advertising

The Unfiltered Media may display advertisements served by third-party ad networks. Embedded Content
